The Timber in Office Project

We’ve been working on a project that seeks to replace as much of the mixed materials that goes into a commercial office fit out with wood based product. We’ve designed a 3d printed jointing system and timber dowel structure as a workstation system that is super light and strong. We think it is in the vicinity of 4kg and have tested it to approximately 130kg. This workstation has been designed in Rhino and Grasshopper, so it can be adjusted to any size with the 3D printing automatically being generated. The system generates a cutting schedule. We expect that this will be available on an open-source platform in the future for designers to access and make. There is potential that this workstation system could be the basis of a small design consultancy offering design and making services.

We’ve also designed a new all wood based partition in collaboration with Humes Doors and Timber.
